DISCUSSION

A. History of The Green Leaves English Center (GLEC)

Green Leaves English Center (GLEC) is a place to learn English with integrated learning methods that combine vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar, listening, speaking, reading, writing in a learning package.Green Leaves English Center (GLEC) was established on April 22, 2007. Green Leaves English Center (GLEC) is private place to learn English that very simple. There are 8 students in the class, so the students can be focus.With not too many students, teachers can help students more easily. Then, the purpose of Green Leaves English Center (GLEC) is quality, not quantity. Green Leaves English Center (GLEC) is not only a home for practice an English, but also a home for those who support nature conservation and world peace. Green Leaves English Center (GLEC) has been a member of Greenpeace International and has been supporting environmental conservation programs since 2007 until now. Green Leaves English Centre (GLEC) invites anyone from the age of 5 to 50 to grow better in knowledge, peace and language skills at GLEC.

The Green Leaves opened the classes included of two classes, they are PRIVATE (1 student) and SEMI PRIVATE (3-8 students). Green Leaves English Centre also opens conversation classes and TOEFL preparation for senior students, including students and employees. Green Leaves English Centre also opened online course to help the students who wnat to join but they are can not come in the class. Starting from April, 22 2010 Green Leaves English Course gives a place to learn English online through a special web:

Green Leaves English Course (GLEC) hope the students can be:
Learn and practice speaking English well and correctly.
Learn all of the aspect and skills language ​​such as speaking (speaking), listening (listening), pronunciation (pronunciation), grammar (grammar), vocabulary (vocabulary), writing (writing and reading (reading and understanding text).
Explore their knowledge of English with their teachers or classmate.
Supporting nature conservation, by keeping the environment clean and green.
Practice to be a grateful, diligent, honest and responsible person, to improve ASK quality (Attitude, Skills, and Knowledge)

B. Vission and Mission

1. Vission
Improving the students` English skill and increasing awareness of environmental preservation.

2. Mission
Students can speak English well and correctly.
Realizing that they are citizens of a diverse nation, color, ethnicity, language, religion and maintaining mutual peace between people inside and outside the Green Leaves area.
Supporting nature conservation, by keeping the environment clean and green.
Practice to be a grateful, diligent, honest and responsible person, to improve ASK quality (Attitude, Skills, and Knowledge)

C. Program

1. Daily Conversation for Toddlers (Playgroup/TK)
English for Kids (SD)
Super Kids has 1-6 level. Only 8-10 months / level of learning, in the learning process using Longman original books.

2. English for Teens (SMP/SMA/SMK)
The level starter A-B, Elementary A-B, Pre-Intermediate A-B, Intermediate A-B, Advance 1-3, just need 3-4 months study time / level to finish the material in the class.

3. Conversation
The level starter A-B, Elementary A-B, Pre-Intermediate A-B, Intermediate A-B, Advance 1-3, 3-4 months study time / level.

4. TOEFL/IELTS/TOEIC Preparation Class
The level start from 1-4, study duration of 3 months / level, or according to the desired program.

D. Method and Media

1. Method:
Green leaves English Centre (GLEC) is using story telling method. Story telling method is a one of the kind of teaching methods that can help the students to learn by imagined the materials discussed.

E. Material
Green Leaves English Centre is using the material from textbook and some books published by Longman, Oxford, and Cambridge.

F. Marketing
Green Leaves English Centre has some ways to promote the course:
1. Be  the promoter in an event
Green Leaves English Centre usually promotes the course by become the promoter of en event especially an English competition event in Metro.

2. Using brochure
Green Leaves English Centre promotes the course by give the brochure to the school around Metro to gain the students.

3. Using social Media
Green Leaves English Centre also uses social media as an aid to promote the course, by using Facebook, Instagram, and Blog.

G. Spot Analysis

Green leaves English centre has 3 classes and 1 office, and also large parking area. Moreover the location of GLEC is near from the main street in Metro that makes students easier to find the location. The classes is really comfortable with air conditional (AC) in each class, TV, CD player and LCD Projectors. There is a garden in the middle of the building with a pool. There is the library in green leaves but, the library was separated from the building and it makes the students have the difficulty to find the books.

H. Strength and Weakness

1. Strength
The method is different from the other course.
All of the tutors in GLEC have to pass the standard score, TOEIC 750/TOEFL 530
GLEC has the online class.
GLEC gives the certificate to all the alumnus and free consultation to the students and alumnus
GLEC doesn’t only focus on increasing the students` English skill but also the students` attitude.

2. Weakness
Green leaves English centre only has 3 tutors. It makes each tutor have to handle a lot of students at same times.
It needs long time to join to GLEC because we have to wait until there is the empty schedule of the class.
The class only held in the afternoon and in the weekend.
